Request for Clubhouse Proposal

The Killarney Lakeside Golf Course, an 18-hole golf course located on Killarney Lake is seeking proposals for a clubhouse solution for our restaurant and pro-shop.  We have approximately 300 members who enjoy our golf course and many guests who utilize the restaurant and pro-shop from May to October each year.  There is a potential for the restaurant to be open year round.

We are seeking proposal solutions for our clubhouse for the 2023 season.  If you are interested in being part of a great club and  delivering quality customer service to our members and guests, we want to hear from you!

Superintendent Announcement

The Killarney Lakeside Board of Directors is extremely happy to announce that we have Rick Penner joining us as the new Superintendent.  Rick brings a wealth of experience to this role. Rick attended Turf Grass Management at Penn State University.

Rick brings over 30 years of experience with being involved in the golf industry tending to a course or being an entrepreneur running an irrigation company.

We are confident that Rick and his wife Nancy will be a welcomed addition to our community and to our club.  Rick was born in Manitoba, grew up near Douglas. Nancy was raised in Killarney.  We feel that this move for them will be a great move as they have family close.

When we asked Rick what his career highlights are he said he had a few.  One being his position at Silver Springs Golf Course in Calgary.  It gave him the invaluable experience of working as an assistant with a large crew and being mentored by an exceptional leader.  He also said his last 5 years has been rewarding.  He returned to Boissevain as the Superintendent and renewed his passion for course improvements and beautification.

When the recruitment committee met Rick and he spoke about his experience, what he had accomplished with the teams he worked with and his vision for our course we instantly had a great feeling that he was exactly what Killarney Lakeside Golf Course needed. Rick has a real desire to motivate and empower his crew to be passionate about their work and the beautification of the course.

We asked Rick what his favourite part of the day as a Superintendent was and his reply was “It is arriving to the course before dawn and watching the sun come up over the greens.  But overall, my favourite part of the job is the satisfaction of seeing golfers being rewarded with a pristine course due to the hard work of the grounds crew.”

Rick’s vision is to take Killarney Lakeside Golf Course from being not only a great course for locals but to being a premier destination for golfers around Manitoba.  When Rick was here and looked at our course and clubhouse he was impressed. He sees the art of the possibility.  We can’t wait to see what Rick will accomplish for us as our new Superintendent.

On behalf of the Board of Directors we want to welcome Rick to his new role.

Best Regards

Board of Directors.
